WOD the first week was horrible! 2-3k queue all the time. Not a half day, but still too long and there was so much lag once you left the started to build your garrison that I just sat there for several hours trying to complete one quest.

I sincerely hope it is better this time around especially since people have four zones to pick from after their artifact quest line.

As excited as I am for Legion, past launch dates have left me weary about staying up until 3am and starting right away.

I hope to be wrong!

Yea I'm in no rush to deal with the launch day/week fuckery. Every expansion they say "We've increased server sizes and can handle much greater loads (giggity?) than before, this one should be smooth with no issues." and then next thing you know - 3k queues that drop randomly, massive server outages, lag, overcrowding (admittedly should be a bit mitigated by being able to level in any zone), etc.

I stayed home the first couple days of Warlords, and most of those days were spent just fighting the Stormrage queue, I'd log in ~10am to a 4k queue that I didn't get in until 4-5pm if it didn't drop me randomly at some point and I'd have to requeue.

Fuck that noise.

log in the day before launch and never log out until server reset (then log right back in again). I run a background macro that keeps me active so i will not time out should i need to take a nap or something.

Call it Blizzard perpetuating the problem. The choice is to stay logged in and be able to play or log off and wait in a queue, possibly not able to play for days. Not saying my time is more valuable than anyone else but if i know a way to increase my chances of being able to play, i will act on those options.

Hopefully Blizzard learned from WoD as I did not encounter the same level of issues at the launch of Cataclysm. Now that we have phasing (which made things MUCH better in the starting zones) and no actual starting zone, it should help balance it out.

Here's hoping Blizzard actually has something in store to ensure the servers can accept much more connections than currently or people remember the challenges of WoD launch and leave Stormrage before launch.

at least 5 people have the mount already. Pro's chances are double from weekend so that makes 6. If my mage makes the team that makes 7. It will be pretty close.

Also as far as drop week goes. I think most of the starting quests are in their own instances kind of like a scenario so overcrowding a quest giver won't be that big of an issue this time.

You know what i did? I would log in early AM when there was no queue. Get dressed and ready for work. I worked for Verizon at the time so I was at liberty to spend as much time as I wanted on my phone/tablet. I would remote control my PC from my tablet and sit in front of my mission table all day doing missions from my tablet. It wasn't the most effective way to do things but I had no issues with lag and queue times.

For those worried about the initial server surge and queues. I purposely leveled a toon on a 2nd acct on a low pop server, activate the acct pre launch and use cross server to level my Stormrage toon on a low pop server with no lag or queues. Yes its a little more time and cash but a whole lot less frustration.

But you would still ahve to deal with the Stormrage queue to log in initially, correct? I think that only really helps the questing since there is far less competition and lag (as you mentioned).

I do that myself by the way; really speeds things up. If anyone wants an invite to my low pop toon, hit me up and i will invite you but you will not be able to queue for any dungeons, just do questing.

Too much dedication for me lol. I just aim to have one character leveled in 3-4 days after launch.

might be taking the week of Launch or week after launch to get set up I've never experienced the stormrage sever lag when a new xpac drops I'm praying it isn't as horrible as I'm expecting it to be or I will be at a huge disadvantage. Krazy what's that macro and what does it do? Lol

Just be prepared for copious amounts of phasing, stolen mobs, bottleneck quests and VERY long queue times.

I'll probably take you up on that. I remember having a few guildies invite me on another toon from a low pop server and hit helped tremendously with the lag.
