What Class If Any Has The Top Dps Over Any Other Class????

I forget how this first came up but in a convo that i had with dragoe it was stated that MM Hunters have the best dps in game ATM. To me that just don't sound right ( But then again i am wrong about %70 of the things i say non rogue related : ) ) So i did some research on this since it was brought up many many times for apparent and non apparent reasons to sort of nip it in the bud. Then i came across this Link. It looks like for the most part Shadow Priest and fire mages are the best end game dps atm. But when i look at our only stand still fight MM hunters and Assassination Rogues come out on top. Any other opinions on this???

Not really an opinion, but there are alot of factors that's playing into these numbers such as:

What gear level?
Spec?
Computer specs/ms/latency?
What buffs are these people getting?
What is their spell/ability rotation?
Are the fights all static as in all regular or hard modes?
Whats the raid make-up? Do they all have the same buffs/debuffs being applied?

There are alot of holes where I see our raiders could improve their dps such as using their cooldowns more efficiently instead of waiting for that "special moment", using potions just before the pull (made alot easier by the in game countdown Nyxeos uses to pull with) and during the fight, getting the proper food buff (feast doesn't always give you the best buff you need, just the most efficient for your class/spec). Min/maxing their gear via gems/chants/reforging. Improving their specs to coexist with the other buffs/debuffs applied from the other raiders (are you using the best dps spec available for your class and what's best dps for the specific fight you're encountering?). We should use this spreadsheet as a basis for improving our dps as a raid group; not as a bottom line "you must hit these numbers", but more of a "this is your potential, lets see you try to get close to it". Kinda like what Bell was doing towards the end of WotLK when he was comparing us to other raiding guilds like MS, CM, MJ, etc.

I have lost a lot of faith in World of Logs, or reports based on WoL info. It is so extremely manipulatable. For instance... On 25 man normal mode, Protection Warriors hold 9 out of 10 of the top ranked DPS spots doing nearly 60k DPS. Really? The warrior TANK.

Most DPS People pulling 45k-50k in current gear, on strait up non-damage-boost fights is just plain unrealistic... it's because of some buff they stole, or some gimmicky planning they did to empower that raider through the fight (ToT, Power Infusion, etc...), for the exact purpose of getting a record.

For that reason, I prefer to use SimCraft or simulation numbers as a more reliable guidelines. It takes into account the best appropriate buffs, gear, spec for that class... and tells their maximum/perfect output. No human manipulation... no gimmicky buff stacking that shouldn't appear in normal circumstances. People will argue that SimCraft takes into acoutn "The perfect rotation" and no human is perfect.... but I would take that over buff manipulation or gimmick stacking anyday.

I have to agree with Cremate. SimCraft is about as close to real and actual numbers as your going to get. The Druid community has embraced this and as Cremate has pointed out that its easy to manipulate the numbers.

I remember back in Vanilla WoW when I played a combat rogue why I could never match this fellow guildies numbers on fights. This guildie was a hunter a was pulling some jaw dropping numbers back then. WoL didnt exist so there was nothing really to reference. It wasnt until toward the end of Vanilla, pre-BC that I found out what he was doing. I was playing a healer or what I like to refer to as "the damn best out of combat rezzer" Paladin during a BWL run and witnessed what he was doing. Back then Engineer grenades had a 1 sec cooldown and he was spamming the shit out of them. He would blow through hundreds of grenades a night, just so he could be number one on the DPS meter. /what an asshat. >.<

That does seem like an asshat move Teleri, especially if he was doing it selfishly just to get to the top of dmg meters and not sharing that info with his other raiders, but, if it increased his dps and his raids ability to down stuff quicker and to blow thru raids faster, then more power to him. Downing more content in 1 week means more loot for people, getting geared quicker, and getting on to hard modes and getting thru them quicker as well.

There probably is but Blizzard seems to have done a good/bad job with parity that any given day when the stars align and the moon is in the new moon phase that any one of the DPS classes can rise to the occasion and be the best.

For the arguement that hunters are top dps, I would only have to assume that they reach their peak in their dps early on whereas other classes have to get the right combination of gear and spell rotation to hit that sweet spot.

So I'm researching some of the top mages on World of Logs... seeing what they do on certain fights.... and I see that many, if not all of them have "Other" listed in there damage list... doing 20% of their damage!....... it's not a known spell, its not a regular buff... it's some shit they spellstole from some low level mob out in Silithid or something, and then took a summon to Magmaw so they could get their free WoL rank.

I used to be a firm believer in "Bullshit... if you can't do those high numbers, L2Play." But the truth of the matter is... it is simply not mathmatically possible to produce the numbers they are, in the gear they have, with the normal untampered raid/buff/spec setup.

Is this cheating? No.... it may even be something we should look into to gimmick-boost our DPS on these encounters. But what it's not... is reliable information to guage our own performance on, anymore. We are much better off looking at the logs of the top players on our own realm, rather than World of Logs top DPS rankings.

I find this has less to do with Blizzard, and more to do with myself.

When I'm DPSing... it's like proper-typing a sentance. When you are zooming through the words, and hit the wrong key, ... you can feel it, so you pause to trace your eyes backwards a few words to see where your typo is. That's the same way I feel when I am DPSing.... if I use the wrong spell, or miss activating a trinket by a few seconds, or misjudge a jump-strafe-whatever.... I can feel it, and know exactly what it was that I did improperly. It may only have a small effect on my over all DPS, but they add up over the course of the fight.

On one of those fights where i'm rocking 22k+ DPS.... it's not RNG, or Blizzard luck, it's me having very few "typos" throughout the fight. My fingers were flying, and I didn't fat-finger anything up. Being a "good player" to me, is very similar to typing.... how fast can you do it, without typos, and how consistently can you reproduce that.

I don't really know how else to explain it... and unless you work in an office... this probably made no sense.

I asume your talking about Magmaw here and its not gimmicky just another strat. I've looked at alot of vids where gulids dont dps the adds at all but just tanks them. Prot warriors have the ablity to do MASSIVE AOE dmg to mulitple targets by way of rend thunder clap which if you look at the logs of these kills you would see that rend is doing close to 40% of there dmg.

this is not always true ,if you look under our logs i have other listed as one of my main ablities

The example was of a mage... there are no "Other"s for a mage. And spellstealing wouldn't apply to anyone else.
