Dragon's Age 2 and other RPGs

Can we shift some of the comments in rift to this thread, so Rift can be it own thread.

I absolutely loved DAO and I can't wait to start playing this tonight.

I know RPG's are not for everyone since its actually more about the story than the actions. Mass Effect and Knight of the Old Republic are also wonderful RPG's if you want to get away from the fantasy genre and into something thats Sci-Fi.

I usually play a Cleric in D&D which tend to leading me to play battlemages/priest/paladins in RPG/MMO's and in DAO I created a Arcane mage, plate wearing melee mage...it was awesome and in the x-pac way way way overpowered. I'm hoping that 16 hrs Phost spoke of is if you just wanted to finished as fast as possible and not all the quest. Kinda like how Fallout 3 was, the striaghtthrough game was fast but you had a 100 hours worth of side quest and story lines to explore.

lmao I have about.. 7 hours logged so far and I've barely done a damn thing yet. I'm one of those people that explores every nook & cranny, talks to everyone possible, etc. Loving it so far, especially since they updated the conversation system to be more like Mass Effect's. That was one of my few issues with DA:O, the fact that it felt like a step back from Mass Effect when you were talking to people. Also one thing they updated was something they borrowed from WoW - you have the option to visually hide your helmet but still gain the stat bonuses.

Combat is way more interesting now, since they added the autoattack combos. It's not just "Hit autoattack and wander off". Half of the time, I forget to use my skills just because the Mage autoattack combos are awesome to watch, and they change based on melee or ranged. That being said, my guy just exudes laserbeams and lightning bolts. Everything fries.

Only complaint (if it can really be that) is that there were so many preorder bonuses and whatnot that pretty much all the gear in the game has been superfluous at this point. Normal Preorder bonus, preorder from GameStop, preorder before Jan11 = Bioware Signature Edition, etc. Every character is using a preorder weapon. Other thing is that since you can only alter Hawke's armor mainly (NPCs have their own armor, with upgrade components), all the armors they give you are just left in your bank if you're a Mage.
Houtoku - 100 Death Knight (Unholy)
Malgan - 100 Paladin (Holy)
Daelen - 100 Mage
Khalur - 100 Warlock
Malfor - 100 Druid (Guardian)
Carcharocles - 100 Warrior (Protection)
Malastor - 100 Rogue
Celerion - 100 Hunter
Haedrem - 100 Shaman

was so fun witht the gin at the end and all =)
it was on PC

but my best RPG games ever were Phatasy Star 4 on sega and Chrono Trigger on SNES
graphs were what the were so now you'd be like: lol! But back then it freakin rocked!

eye of the beholderIII
Lands of Lore
Baldur's gate
FF1, FF2, FF3, FF7
Luna
All were great titles in my heart. maybe a little outdated

No games have catch my attention in a while.

Rift is an MMO but does it have a monthly fee?

Rift has monthly price of $14.99, same as WoW. They have 3mos and 6mos payment options as well.

I'm playing Rift on non raid days, myself. I enjoy it very much. There's some things I wouldn't mind them changing just a bit, but overall, it's a lot of fun. It's similar to all the MMOs to date to be easy to use the UI, but different enough in play to be interesting. Of course, this is just my opinion.

I have a few characters made on the Wolfsbane server. One is Cevella and one is Meldaril. If you get the game, and choose to play on that server, I would appreciate you letting me know.

It's ok, Mila. At least you know of someone you can talk about the game with from WoW. :)
